Almerita Contessa Franca from the famous Sicilian wine producer Tasca d'Almerita. This is the top sparkling wine from this estate. An extra brut Chardonnay based sparkling wine made by the classical method and aged on the fine lees in the bottle for 60 months. Each vintage is unique because of the artisanal production process. This vintage has a fine and continuous perlage, with a delicate creaminess to the palate. It is a wine with an excellent structure and persistence. The bouquet has scents of tropical fruits - pineapple and passion fruit -and a citrusy note of orange blossom and bread crust, the taste is dry, fresh and delicate.

The Chardonnay vines for the Almerita Contessa Franca sparkling wine have an age of 20 years and grow in the Tasca d'Almerita vineyards at the Regaleali Estate south of Palermo in central Sicily at altitude of around 500 m. An area where exposure, altitude, atmospheric temperature range, ventilation all come together to determine the precious interplay between plant and soil which give wines with freshness, complexity and elegance. The grapes were manually harvested, carefully sorted, destemmed and pressed followed by fermentation and full malolactic fermentation. After the primary fermentation the wine was bottled and had its second fermentation and ageing in the bottles for 60 months on the fine lees.
