The Ammasso from young and ambitious winery Barone Montalto. A Super-Sicilian wine made in a modern style from major grape varieties. Based on the appasimento method the resulting red wine is potent and elegant but finely balanced.

The vines for the Ammasso red wine grow in the Barone Montalto vineyards in a hilly area near the sea in the province of Trapani in western Sicily. The vineyards are located at an altitude of 350-500 meters above sea level, where the interaction between high daytime temperatures and cool nights gives both maturity and freshness in the grapes. The best grapes were hand-picked and placed in small cases and stored for 4 weeks in a controlled temperature fruit chamber room. The natural enzymatic processes develop the peculiar aromas and taste profile. Grapes were gently handled to preserve their delicate balance. The wine rested for 8-10 months in medium toasted oak casks followed by 4 months in the bottle. Colour: Deep ruby red
