Espressione Chardonnay from the Rudini Winery in Pachino in south-eastern Sicily is a lovely rich unoaked chardonnay. The vines grow in calcareous clay soil near the sea, where the cool breezes balances the hot climate. The vines have an age of 10-20 years with roots digging deep underground and conferring the concentration and richness of salty and mineral elements, giving this wine considerable breadth.
