Pinot Grigio Ramato from the Attems winery in Friuli Venezia Giulia - part of the famous Frescobaldi House. The Pinot Grigio vines for this wine grow in vineyards near the Adriatic Sea in North-eastern Italy. This wine is delicately floral on the nose, with notes of broom and Alpine rose. When swirled in the glass, a distinctive aroma of green apple comes to the fore. The body is light yet precise and complex, with a balanced acidity that flows nicely over the palate. The finish is characterised by the minerality associated with the area.

The Attems estate extends for 44 hectares on the terraced slopes west of Gorizia, facing south, protected both from the cold north winds and from the Trieste bora. A territory particularly suited to viticulture, which already at the end of the nineteenth century allowed Friuli Venezia Giulia to be one of the first Italian wine-growing regions. Attems enhances both native varieties such as Ribolla Gialla and other noble vines such as Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay and Merlot, which find here ideal environmental conditions. The vineyards grow and bear fruit in an ecosystem where biodiversity reigns.
