Lighea 2019 - Sicilia D.O.C. Zibibbo - Donnafugata

Lighea from the world famous Sicilian producer Donnafugata - a very pleasant brilliant straw yellow wine. A dry wine produced from Zibbibo grapes grown on the very hot island of Pantelleria. It is characterized by an ample and rich bouquet combined with a fresh mineral vein.

The Zibibbo vines for the Lighea white wine grow in various Donnafugata vineyards in volcanic sandy soil high in minerals at altitudes ranging from 20 to 400 m on the island of Pantelleria located between Sicily and Africa. The vines have various ages, some more than 100 years old, and are cultivated as low bush-wines, in hollows in a famous system called low alberello pantesco.

The grapes were manually harvested, carefully sorted, destemmed and pressed followed by fermentation at a controlled low temperature at Donnafugata’s Khamma winery on Pantelleria. The wine was aged in stainless steel tanks for two months and at least three months in bottles before release.
