The Nero d’Avola vines for the Sergio red wine grow in Barone Sergio‘s vineyards in the Valley of Noto close to Siracusa and near the sea in Southeastern Sicily at an altitude of 70 m. The grapes were harvested by hand, sorted and destalked followed by fermentation on the skins in stainless steel tanks. The wine was matured for 6-7 months in the tanks followed by 4-6 months in the bottles.
Colour: Bright ruby red.
Bouquet: On the nose pleasant appeals of fresh grass with hints of dark cherry and sour cherry.
Taste: On the palate it is balanced, considerably long, showing good tannin and a structure that boasts considerable breadth.
Longevity 3-5 years.
