The Nebbiolo vines for this Barolo grow in various of Gagliardo’s vineyards near La Morra in the Barolo region of Piedmonte. The vineyards are cultivated according to the principles for organic farming.
The Summer of 2014 was one of the coldest and rainiest ever recorded, however, a long autumn without rain or hail and late harvest allowed the grapes to ripe beautifully.
The grapes from each vineyard were manually harvested, carefully sorted, and destemmed, followed by maceration and fermentation separately. After racking the individual wines were matured for 6 months in barriques followed by a further maturation for 27 months in large oak casks before the final blending and bottling of the wine.
Longevity: very long.
